Boebert responds to Chapelle’s claim she ‘weaponized’ transgender jokes

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) slammed comedian Dave Chapelle for saying she “weaponized” his jokes about transgender people. 

“I think that’s what he’s done. I think he’s doubled down on it quite a bit, has he not?” Boebert told independent journalist Nicholas Ballasy. “And it is a joke. Transgenderism is a joke. It’s a mental disorder and it’s a freaking joke. They’re castrating our children and destroying them, absolutely ruining their lives over it.”

Chapelle’s comedy has been criticized for making harmful jokes about the transgender community, particularly following the release of his Netflix special “The Closer,” which critics accused of “ridiculing transgender people.”

In the special, Chapelle makes claims like “gender is a fact,” using crude terms to refer to a transgender person’s anatomy. He also defended “Harry Potter” author........
