Trump special envoy Kristi Noem joins mining firm as adviser

Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has joined the advisory board of Canadian mineral exploration firm NovaRed Mining, the company announced Tuesday.

Noem, who now serves as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, will work in a strategic advisory role as the company seeks to acquire and advance critical mineral exploration projects using its artificial intelligence-enhanced technology platform. 

The company is focused on acquiring and developing copper-gold projects in British Columbia. Noem said she was drawn to NovaRed’s focus on critical minerals, which have become increasingly important to U.S. supply chains.

“I look forward to supporting the Company’s strategic objectives. In an increasingly competitive global environment, secure and reliable access to critical minerals has become an important economic and national security priority,” she said in a statement.
