Hegseth to push for Pentagon’s $1.5T budget in front of Senate committee
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will testify in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) on Thursday to push for the Pentagon’s $1.5 trillion budget request, a source familiar with the matter told The Hill on Monday.
The testimony in the Senate chamber will take place a day after he is scheduled to testify before the House Armed Services Committee (HASC). That’s the first time he’ll address that panel since the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran began. It also comes amid questions over Hegseth’s leadership of the Pentagon.
Hegseth will be joined on Thursday by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Dan Caine, along with the Pentagon’s acting comptroller, Jules W. Hurst III, the source said.
