Sharon Alfonsi to depart ’60 Minutes’

Journalist Sharon Alfonsi is departing “60 Minutes,” after criticizing CBS News leadership under its new corporate owner Paramount.

Alfonsi’s contract with the weekly news program ended over the weekend, she told The New York Times and argued the outlet’s decision not to renew her deal was an intentional one.

“It sends a chilling message to the entire newsroom,” she told the Times. “I think it was a deliberate choice to penalize a journalist for refusing to sanitize accurate reporting.”

Alfonsi insisted she’s “not resigning” from CBS, saying “if they want me gone because I did my job, they’ll have to fire me.”

CBS declined to comment.
