Paxton warns Big 12 of potential legal action over any Texas Tech Sorsby sanctions

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), a candidate for governor, is warning schools across the Big 12 Conference that the state would consider suing any institution that sanctions Texas Tech over a decision to play a quarterback who sued the NCAA to regain his eligibility.

In a letter to Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark and Kansas Chancellor Douglas Girod, Paxton wrote any sanctioning of Texas Tech “would be a per se violation of federal and state antitrust laws — a naked horizontal agreement among competitors to disadvantage Texas Tech by cutting off access to the resources it needs to compete,” according to The Associated Press.

It comes amid reports some Big 12 schools are considering the possibility of refusing to play Texas Tech should quarterback Brendan Sorsby........
