FCC ordering review of Disney broadcast station licenses
The FCC is ordering an early review of the broadcast licenses of several local television stations owned and operated by Disney, the sprawling media and entertainment conglomerate that owns ABC.
In a filing made on Tuesday, the department confirmed it had been conducting an investigation into Disney’s diversity, equity and inclusion practices and was kicking off the process to start an early review of the company’s broadcast licenses for a handful of stations it owns and operates in major markets across the country.
The stations in question are ABC affiliates in major markets like New York, Los Angeles and Houston.
In a statement to The Hill on Tuesday, Disney confirmed it had received the FCC order initiating an accelerated review of the licenses and defended its corporate policies.
