GOP, Democratic super PACs announce over $400M in ad reservations
Two super PACs associated with Republican and Democratic House leadership announced their midterm ad reservations, totaling more than $400 million altogether as both parties eye the House majority this fall.
House Majority PAC, which is associated with House Democratic leadership, announced on Thursday that it would be shelling out an initial $272 million between TV and digital ad reservations, with $80 million alone dedicated to digital. The initial investment spans 68 media markets.
The House Democratic super PAC noted their initial reservations were higher than what the group initially spent in 2022 — $101.8 million — and in 2024— $186 million.
Some of the cities and areas where House Majority PAC is spending the most include Detroit ($14.4 million), Philadelphia ($12.6 million), Phoenix (nearly $7.7 million) and Denver (almost $6.9 million).
“While Democrats are expanding the map nationwide, House Republicans are losing ground after failing to lower costs, making health care more expensive, and dragging us into another costly and unpopular foreign war,” House Majority PAC President Mike Smith said in a statement.
“Democrats will take back the House in November, and elect Hakeem Jeffries as the next Speaker,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Congressional Leadership Fund, aligned with House GOP leadership, announced an initial ad reservation of $153.1 million between cable, digital, streaming and broadcast, encompassing 38 different media markets.
The House GOP super PAC also noted this was their largest initial reserved spending for a cycle.
Some of the cities and areas where the Congressional Leadership Fund is spending the most includes $18.6 million in New York City, $12.6 million in Detroit and $10.3 million in Harlingen, Texas, the latter of which the group said also included Spanish-language advertising.
“This initial reserve reflects the reality that this cycle, again, will be fought on a narrow map. Republicans hold the terrain, and it’s a tall order for Democrats to break through our strong, battle-tested incumbents,” Chris Winkelman, president of the Congressional Leadership Fund, said in a statement.
“This reserve shows we are committed to defending our own while aggressively supporting our candidates on offense.”
All told, the two groups are spending $425 million in initial advertising reservations.
Democrats see an opportunity to flip the House this November, with a potential Democratic House majority threatening to thwart President Trump’s priorities in his last two years in office.
A poll shared by Cook Political Report and conducted by New River Strategies and the GS Strategy Group, released Thursday, suggested Democrats lead Republicans on a generic congressional ballot, with Democrats receiving 50 percent with the GOP receiving 44 percent.
