DNC members set to discuss early primary calendar this week in DC

Democratic National Committee (DNC) members are set to meet in Washington this week to vote on the states that could be among the first to vote in the 2028 Democratic primary. 

Members of the Democratic National Committee’s rules and bylaws committee are meeting at the Salamander Hotel on Thursday and Friday to recommend which states should “receive waivers to hold early nominating contests,” one party source with knowledge of the process told The Hill. 

The recommendation from the committee would then go to the full DNC for a vote in Austin, Texas, next month, the source said. 

South Carolina and Nevada are among the leading contenders to cast the first-in-the-nation votes, the source said, pointing to the racial diversity in each state. 

For years, Democrats voiced an unhappiness with the order of their primary process. They took action after the 2020 Iowa caucuses, after a flawed vote-reporting app took days to declare a winner and undermined the entire........
