Some Android users may qualify for $135 million settlement: What to know

(NEXSTAR) – If you’ve used an Android mobile device since 2017, you may qualify for part of a $135 million class action settlement.

The possible payout stems from a lawsuit filed against Google, accusing the company of causing Android mobile devices to send “a variety of information” to the internet giant without the users’ permission. This, the lawsuit alleges, consumed the cellular data on those devices.

Google has denied wrongdoing, but agreed to the $135 million settlement. A similar lawsuit for only California residents resulted in a $350 million settlement.

Some impacted customers have reported receiving emails — with some going to spam folders — notifying them that they qualify for the settlement.
