The confirmation of a polio case in Karachi is a reminder that no part of the country can be considered safe from the crippling disease. The city had been polio-free for nearly two years before the case of the current victim, a baby boy from Jamali Colony in Karachi East. The boy was reportedly malnourished, which makes people more susceptible to diseases, but reports did not confirm whether or not the boy had been vaccinated.
