Another Top Dem Under Sexual Assault Investigation

Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif., a good friend of former Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., who was forced to resign from the chamber due to sexual assault and rape allegations, is now under a House Ethics Committee investigation himself over alleged sexual misconduct.

The committee launched a probe into the Democrats’ deputy whip regarding allegations of sexual misconduct on Monday.

Gomez, founder of the Congressional Dads Caucus, admitted on Monday that he made “personal mistakes outside” his marriage, but that the acts were “consensual in nature.”

“Although my actions were consensual in nature and haven’t violated the law or House Ethics rules,” Gomez added, “that doesn’t diminish the impact that these mistakes have made on those I care about the most.”
