FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL — Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., will bring pro-life advocate Pastor Damon Magee, of Shreveport, Louisiana’s Kings Temple UPC, as a special guest to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday.

“I am honored to welcome Damon Magee to the U.S. Capitol as my guest for the President’s State of the Union address,” Johnson told The Daily Signal. “Damon and his wife, Tammy, are the proud biological parents of two grown children, the adoptive parents of two, foster parents of one, and devoted foster care and adoption advocates in North Louisiana.”

The Magees have been leading voices of the pro-life and pro-adoption movement in Johnson’s home state, the Speaker’s office told The Daily Signal.

Johnson added that the Magees, will be part of the “millions of families” across the nation who will “greatly benefit” from this Congress’s “historic pro-family tax policies.”

“The Magees represent just one of millions of families who will greatly benefit from Republicans’ historic pro-family tax policies – including the doubled Child Tax Credit and enhanced Adoption Tax Credit – which strengthen, support, and encourage families nationwide,” Johnson added.

In 2025, Republicans under the One Big Beautiful Bill raised the Child Tax Credit from $2,000 to $2,200.

The bill also raised the Adoption Tax Credit to $17,280 per child, with up to $5,000 eligible for a refund.

The legislation also greenlights other financial initiatives for children, such as the 529 Education Savings Account, an education investment account for children. It also created “Trump Accounts,” new tax-advantaged investment accounts for children.
