Two creaking, ancient, Democratic dinosaurs are gearing up for one last political battle in a decades-long relationship marked by tension, tart exchanges, and high-stakes clashes in the House.

Before she retires for good, the former speaker of the House, octogenarian Nancy Pelosi, is picking another bone with a fellow Democrat powerhouse and ex-House Minority Leader who represents Pelosi’s home state of Maryland. The pair’s history, however, goes back much further than this latest salvo.
