Neocons Practically Beg Trump To Nuke Iran, Drool Over The Idea Of Vaporized Civilians

The supposedly “smart,” serious, respectable, adults-in-the-room neoconservatives are utterly (but perhaps, unsurprisingly) titillated by the specter of all-out nuclear war.

On Tuesday morning, President Trump hinted at a massive escalation in the war against Iran and appeared to suggest the U.S. could use nuclear weapons if the regime does not capitulate and fully relinquish control of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has previously balked whenever he made big threats, but this one feels different. People seem genuinely rattled. But there’s also something rather darkly amusing happening on the right. All the conservatives who defended President Trump when he said mean, distasteful, but ultimately trivial things appear to be criticizing this latest threat to destroy a “whole civilization.” Meanwhile, ex-Never Trumpers and conservatives who nitpicked Trump for his uncouth behavior over the years are now defending, or outright celebrating, the nuclear brinksmanship.

Mark Levin, of course, was born for this moment. This is what he’s been dreaming of ever since he coronated himself a gatekeeper of the MAGA movement and became Trump’s favorite Fox News host — that no one else watches save for the president and maybe Laura Loomer.

During his show Sunday evening, Levin rattled off famous battles fought by the United States and listed the number of casualties suffered in each one. It was as if Levin was manufacturing consent for Trump to launch a ground invasion, to bomb more civilian targets, or to possibly launch nukes.

Is Mark Levin trying to implant in Trump’s brain that he should nuke Iran to avoid high US military casualties? Note how he cites the Battle of Okinawa and says that’s “what convinced Truman that we’d lose a million men if we didn’t drop the atomic bombs that we did.” pic.twitter.com/b6H4wJCSXC — Chris Menahan 🇺🇸 (@infolibnews) April 5, 2026

Dinesh D’Souza, famous for making crappy Obama-era documentaries, suggested that a specter of nuclear war was admittedly “a little frightening” but “exhilarating,” too. For him, it seems, war is a 12-episode Netflix docuseries — far more entertaining than anything he has ever produced in his film career — which he can binge-watch from the comfort of his couch.

A little frightening. But also exhilarating. It is important to recognize the people of Iran, cowering under the tyranny of the mullahs for half a century, support this. It is that twisted, brutish “civilization” that is imperiled, not the great civilization of ancient Persia. pic.twitter.com/HmXpsbE7wL — Dinesh D’Souza (@DineshDSouza) April 7, 2026

Just as a thought experiment, replace the name DONALD TRUMP with WINSTON CHURCHILL, and replace IRAN with GERMANY. Now read the post again, and it may appear in a fresh, sobering light. pic.twitter.com/VJirFNMjY4 — Dinesh D’Souza (@DineshDSouza) April 7, 2026

Erick Erickson, the neocon and self-described “imperialist” who peddled smears and lies about Joe Kent’s wife, has a 4-D chess “theory” about Trump’s “Art of the Deal” negotiating style:

What’s actually happening here is the President has embraced the “mad man” theory and is trying to convince the Iranians that he’s willing to do whatever to wipe them out in hopes of getting a deal. The failure is that the President, like so many others, doesn’t actually… pic.twitter.com/aqxsFw7GKC — Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) April 7, 2026

Washington Post columnist Marc Thiessen casually endorsed mass murder:

And then here’s Kash Patel’s country singer girlfriend, Alexis Tzu, chiming in, as well:

This cannot be stressed enough, but the Never Trump crowd quibbled and quibbled and quibbled, for years on end, about Trump’s gauche, unruly behavior. More recently, they chastised the president for his statements after the deaths of Rob Reiner and Robert Mueller.

But since they built their careers around their hawkish stance on Iran, have advocated for war against the regime for years, and are devoted to winning it at all costs — lest they be embarrassed for being so wrong and so deluded — they have absolutely nothing to say about the possibility of murdering scores of Iranian civilians. In fact, some find it necessary and exhilarating.

I think it’s insanity. Pure insanity.
