Greetings, Dear Reader,
Brief note before we get started: I will not be writing tomorrow.
I’ve got some travel down south to promote the journalism program I run in Virginia and I just won’t have time. I’m sure you’ll miss me.
There’s a word sitting like a piping hot coal at the center of the fringe left’s most virulent political strain, and it’s time we who care about western civ start hammering it for all its worth.
First, some stats. Roughly 40% of New York City’s population is foreign-born. That’s up 10% since the turn of the century, and it’s a meaningful 10%. Nearly the same amount, 42%, are on Medicaid, 20% are on food stamps, more than a third live in “rent-stabilized” apartments, 5% live in public housing and 25% (!!!) either work for the government itself or a government-funded NGO.
In 2014, the New York State Medicaid program was paying 20,000 people to stay at home with ailing relatives in an at-home nursing program. Following a rule change in 2015, the number jumped to 250,000. Now that number has surpassed 620,000 people. It’s fully 12 percent of NYC’s private sector. It’s also dominated by immigrants (anyone else smell a scam?).
Now the next relevant question: Who voted for all the socialists?
Not just Mamdani, but three Zohran-endorsed, avowed socialists just won........
