Your leftovers, recreated

There's no warning sign, no wall text preparing you. Just a stainless steel table, gleaming under gallery light, plates arranged as if someone just stepped away. It takes a second too long to register that nothing on it is real, and one second more to realise you've seen this exact table before. It was yours, last Tuesday.

The Tablescape spans 8 feet of stainless steel, laid with half-eaten dal, torn roti and biryani pushed to one side of the plate, all sculpted in hyper-real detail. Nothing here is edible, yet everything looks abandoned mid-meal, a still life built entirely out of the moment appetite gets left behind.

Crafting hyper-real food

Every dish was shaped using sampuru, a Japanese craft traditionally used for restaurant window displays, adapted here by food artist Bonani Hazarika, working as The Jolly Belly. Instead of sculpting appetite, she sculpted its opposite, recreating leftovers and half-eaten meals with the same........
