Plaid budget deal gave extra £6m to Newport, says MS
It was a relief to see the recent Welsh Government budget deal go through after significant concessions were won by Plaid Cymru. In return for not voting against the government, we negotiated an extra £300m for local government funding and the NHS.
This means that the NHS will see a 3.6 per cent uplift compared to 2.1 per cent previously. Councils will receive an average uplift of 4.5 per cent with all local authorities receiving increases above 4 per cent, compared to Labour’s original 2.2 per cent. To take Newport as an example, they will now receive a 6.1 per cent uplift or an extra £6m from the draft settlement initially........
