Northern California is enjoying its Hollywood moment. In 2024, the Leonardo DiCaprio action-comedy “One Battle After Another” filmed in Humboldt County and in Sacramento bars, hotels and grocery stores. Now, as that picture shapes up to be an Oscar frontrunner, another major project is preparing to film in the region.
Ang Lee, the famed director of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Brokeback Mountain” and “Life of Pi,” plans to shoot at least part of his next film in the city, according to a news release from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office. That picture, called “Gold Mountain,” is scheduled to begin filming next year.
