One of California’s longest-running craft breweries is for sale. Owner Barbara Groom is looking to sell Eureka’s Lost Coast Brewery as she gets ready to retire after 36 years, as first reported by Pro Brewer.

“I’m 80 years old, and I want to do some traveling,” Groom told SFGATE.

Groom, who grew up in Stockton, opened Lost Coast with Wendy Pound in 1990 (Groom is now the sole owner). After previous careers working as a pharmacist and selling makeup as an Avon representative, she became interested in brewing upon seeing California’s first brewpub, Mendocino Brewing Co., open in 1983. With Lost Coast being one of the first women-owned breweries in the country, Groom remembers things being “pretty backward”........
