LATEST Aug. 11, 12:17 p.m. Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris experienced a medical emergency Thursday in San Francisco, according to a GoFundMe posted by his wife, Kathy Merrick, on Monday.

The band pulled out of its Chase Center performance for Lionel Richie’s Sing a Song All Night Long Tour abruptly before showtime Thursday, and since then, Paris has been “receiving the care he needs, surrounded by the love of his family and the prayers of countless friends and fans,” the GoFundMe states. Due to the burdens of traveling for Paris’ “unexpected medical crisis,” Merrick, who lives in Los Angeles, has canceled the remaining performances of her own tour with the group Honey Cone.
