SFO travelers get new ride-hail option with Waymo breakthrough

Travelers arriving at San Francisco International Airport will now be able to hop in an autonomous Waymo — after a brief AirTrain ride.
Waymo and the airport announced on Thursday that the company is finally approved to open up its ride-hailing service. Its autonomous cars, though, won’t be driving into the Uber and Lyft zones in the centrally located Domestic Garage. Instead, Waymo riders will be picked up and dropped off at the Rental Car Center a few train stops, or roughly 10 minutes, from the terminals.

The approval is a huge win for Waymo, which has dramatically expanded its service radius in the Bay Area over the past couple of years without yet........
