As San Francisco Giants legend Buster Posey wraps up his second season in charge of the team, the team’s awful season on the field is forcing him to address how long he plans to stay in the role.

Posey initially signed a three-year contract to be San Francisco’s president of baseball operations right after the 2024 season, when the team fired Farhan Zaidi and hired Posey, who was a part of the team’s ownership group and board of directors, in one fell swoop. The hope at the time was clear: Posey would lead the Giants out of their mediocrity and return the franchise to the same winning ways he led them to on the field.
