Building connections at BCHS: New buddy program supports healthcare professionals

Starting a new job in a new country can be exciting, but it can also come with unique challenges. Recognizing that those first few weeks can make all the difference, Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) launched its Buddy Program in Spring 2026 to help Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs), Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs), and other new staff feel supported from day one.

“The program was created to foster a supportive environment where healthcare professionals can build meaningful connections, feel a sense of belonging, and gain confidence as they navigate their new workplace,” says Cindy Hayward-Dale, Director Health, Safety & Wellness.
