While a June primary isn’t as sexy as a November election in a presidential year, California voters have some consequential decisions to make this summer.

The most interesting race in what is typically a low-turnout election is the one for governor. The leading candidates in most polls are the two Republicans — Chad Bianco and  Steve Hilton — ahead of nine relatively well-known Democratic contenders.
