U.S. jobless claims dipped to 226,000 last week, edging above forecasts

The four-week moving average climbed to 223,250, while continuing claims rose to 1.81 million for the week ended June 6

Seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims totaled 226,000 for the week ending June 13, a decline of 4,000, the Labor Department reported Thursday. The result came in just above the 225,000 figure that analysts polled by FactSet had anticipated, the Associated Press noted.

The prior week's figure was revised up by 1,000, from 229,000 to 230,000. At 223,250, the four-week moving average climbed by 4,000 — a measure that helps iron out the swings seen in........
