Stocks surged late Thursday after President Donald Trump said he had called off U.S. military strikes against Iran and claimed that a deal to end months-long war was imminent — a claim Iran quickly denied.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average at one point was up more than 1,000 points in late-afternoon trading before closing up more than 900 points, or 1.8%. The S&P 500 closed up 1.7% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq $NDAQ Composite added 2.5%. West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures fell 3% to about $86 a barrel, while Brent........
