5 The Destruction of Houses Royce and Davinos - Stone-Faced (4x04)
Critical Role had an overwhelming number of shocking moments in its four-episode overture, so narrowing it down to one big thing was difficult.
The arrival of House Tachonis assassins at Palazzo Davinos and their brutal slaughter of the households of House Royce, Davinos, and Occtis Tachonis (who, don’t worry, recovered) kept us on the edge of our seats from beginning to end. With the players still low-level, Critters unsure which player character would even survive into the next arc, and the constant reminder that “anyone could die,” this moment established a Game of Thrones-like tone........
