There is no disease known to mankind which causes more aggravation than the common cold. The symptoms of this affliction need no doctor to diagnose. A fevered brow, bleary eyes, a raw and dripping nose and swollen glands all speak for themselves.

An individual with a cold gets shunned like a leper. It is true no one ever wants to see you when you’re down and out.
Generally, the insidious cold germs seem to follow an established pattern.
First, they attack the throat region with a vengeance. When that seemingly innocent little tickle starts, you might as well sign away the next week of your life.
Cold complainers often have bed rest and plenty of liquids recommended. Lately, I’ve had Mae West-inspired daydreams about languishing in bed, propped up with satin pillows while eating chocolate chiffon cold drops and drinking freshly squeezed orange juice. Wouldn’t it be lovely?
Alternatively, a farmer in Falmouth once confided that his foolproof cold remedy was downing 26 ounces of rum in an evening. He allowed that the nasty cold germs fought........
