One day, the show was pre-empted because somebody named John F. Kennedy was shot. I was heartbroken, not because of the assassination of the beloved president of the United States, but because I missed Larry, Curly, and Moe.

We did get our own TV after a while. It was black and white, of course. You had to get up off the couch to change to the other channel, click, click. There were only three commercials at a time. One knob controlled the horizontal lines and another the vertical.

On occasion, your brother had to go up on the roof to adjust the antenna and........
