COMMENTARY: Charlottetown cannot afford more of the same
Charlottetown residents care deeply about our community. This care needs to actively extend to how it is governed. This council has given residents ample reason to question the competence, transparency, and accountability (or lack thereof). This culture at City Hall will not correct itself. If we want better, we need to demand it.

That sense of community shows up in how we treat one another. We support local artists, small businesses and community organizations. We coach our children’s sports teams and organize fundraisers. I am proud of those values, and of the fire they light in us. We may not always agree, but we pride ourselves on being the kind of city where neighbours still look out for one another.
The City of Charlottetown’s next municipal election is scheduled for Nov. 2. Recently, I visited the city’s website looking for information about the upcoming election. Instead, the website only had information for the 2022 election, with no visible effort on the city’s social media to inform voters, encourage prospective candidates, or explain........
