As a patriotic Canadian, disgusted by the America of today and its bullying ways, warmongering and disgusting leadership, I had taken the pledge to stop buying American as much as I could and stop travelling there at any time.

Even a favourite younger brother couldn’t entice me to go to Arizona this winter for some climate warmth.

The motivation for reversing my pledge at this time was strong. A group of American, Catholic-rooted feminists was meeting at a retreat house near Detroit to mark its 50th anniversary of advocating for the ordination of women in the Catholic Church.
