The internet or web browser on your computer is one of the most important software programs on the device, and also the one most people rarely think about.

That’s too bad, because there are many different internet browsers and, depending on your needs, you could be using the wrong one.

An internet browser is the software that allows you to see and use the internet. It receives data from the internet and turns it into the websites, images and videos that you see and the music and sounds you hear. You use it to shop online, perform internet banking, check your email and post to social media. The most common ones are Microsoft Edge, which came with your Windows computer; Google Chrome, the world’s most popular browser; Firefox; Opera; and, on your iPad, iPhone or Mac computer, it’s Safari.
