Seniors month celebrated with free activities at McDonnel Street Community Centre

June is Recreation and Parks Month and also Seniors Month.

It is the perfect time for older adults to join a variety of fun and active leisure programs offered by the City of Peterborough and designed to bring people together and keep our community thriving.

In the Town Ward, all drop-in activities at the McDonnel Street Community Centre (MSCC), located at 577 McDonnel St., will be free for the month of June. This is an opportunity to try something new. These drop-in activities are for adults aged 55 and older. After June, they are $3.50 per person.

MSCC offers shuffleboard on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. and participants can expect approximately two hours of play. Wednesdays are group fitness, facilitated by Community Care Peterborough. Zumba Gold takes place from 9 to 9:45 a.m., standing Warm up and Weights is 10 to 10:45 a.m., and seated Warm up and Weights is 11 to 11:45 a.m. Darts takes place Thursdays at 1 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and participants can expect approximately two hours of play.
