The annual Riverview Park and Zoo Fun Run and Walk happens Saturday, Sept. 26, and registration is open. All funds raised from this family-friendly race will go toward creating a fully accessible playground at the zoo. The goal is to raise $5,000 from this event.

Participants can choose their own pace and distance, walking or running either 1 km or 5 km on the course that is fully contained within the zoo property and perfect for walkers and runners of all ages. 

There will be prizes for the three top fundraisers and awards for the top finishers in both distances. As well, every participant receives a medal. And don’t forget to dress up as your favourite feathered or furry animal as there will also be prizes for the best-dressed participants.

Race day begins with registration at the Rotary Education Centre at 7 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony that takes place at 8 a.m., the 1-km race at 8:15 a.m., the 1-km award ceremony at 8:30 a.m. at the gazebo, the 5-km race at 9 a.m., and the 5-km award ceremony at 10 a.m. at the gazebo.

Light snacks of apples and granola bars will be provided post-race. A water wagon will be on site to........
