A new poll finds majority support among surveyed Democrats for pursuing criminal prosecutions of officials from both the Biden and Trump administrations over Gaza. The finding points to demands for accountability that extend beyond party allegiance.

The majority of Democratic voters believe Israel has committed genocide in Gaza for the past three years. And they want the American politicians in both parties who supported it to pay.

In a poll released on Monday by the Center for Strategic Politics and commissioned by the magazine Liberal Currents, 683 Democratic voters were asked whether the next Democratic administration should “pursue criminal prosecution of members of the Trump and Biden administrations for actions taken related to Israel’s genocide in Gaza”.

More than half, 57 per cent, of the Democrats surveyed answered “yes”, while only 22 per cent answered “no” and another 22 per cent said they “don’t know”.

Self-described ‘socialists’ and ‘progressives’ were most bullish on Gaza-focused prosecutions. But so were 52 per cent of ’liberals’ and even 48 per cent of Democrats who called themselves ‘moderate’ or ‘conservative’.
