Readers sound off on Ghislaine Maxwell’s imprisonment, random killings and Kristi Noem’s dog
The verdict is in and remains, Ghislaine
Opelika, Ala.: A.W. Tozer, pastor, preacher, writer and profound thinker, wrote: “Of all the forms of deception, self-deception is the most deadly, and of all deceived persons the self-deceived are the least likely to discover it.” Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s glacial procurer, epitomizes Tozer’s maxim.
A 2021 jury found Maxwell guilty on five counts, including four for sexual exploitation of minors. During her trial, evidence emerged that Epstein stuffed $30 million into her account. Maxwell exploited her affability, allure and access to power. She entangled girls reared in poverty, neglect, abuse or amid family addiction, some only 13, to their new matrix: depravity, debauchery and degradation. Julie Brown investigated Epstein for a year and interviewed 60 girls who claimed Epstein abused them. In November 2018, the Miami Herald published Brown’s “Perversion of Justice.” On Feb. 21, 2019, a federal judge ruled the non-prosecution agreement brokered by former U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta was illegal, and on July 6, 2019, Epstein was arrested. On July 12, Acosta resigned as U.S. secretary of labor. On Aug. 10, 2019, Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan cell.
On Dec. 17, 2025, Maxwell submitted her writ of habeas corpus, wherein a person claims they were denied due process or their constitutional rights were violated. A Manhattan judge found that her claim lacks merit, and the purported new evidence incriminates her and doesn’t support her error claims. She’s guilty.
