DHS stiffs terror-target NYC on counter-terror funding
In the run-up to the grim 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on New York City, the Department of Homeland Security, under hapless Secretary Markwayne Mullin and a one-time New Yorker president, has still not disbursed about $87 million in counterterrorism funding out of a total $187 million it has owed New York since last year, when it unlawfully tried to cut the money as a result of Donald Trump’s unrelated grievances with the state, including over immigration protections.
Mullin was instead here this week to tout ICE arrest numbers and chastise New York while the department he leads leaves local law enforcement and emergency response hanging. This is another example of Trump’s erroneous belief that he is the king (or perhaps the CEO) of the United States. The funds appropriated by Congress for various purposes are........
