Mayor Mamdani is a demagogue. He said he wanted to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu for “war crimes” though he knew he had no power to do so. Then, he backed down.

Mamdani is a mountebank. He appeared for a photo-op outside the residence of billionaire Ken Griffin to showcase his new “pied-à-terre” tax, painting a target on Griffin’s back and compromising his security. Griffin almost aborted his project to construct a billion-dollar office building in the city.

New York is the costliest city in the United States, with a cost of living roughly 120-130% above the national average. But Mamdani forgets it is all the more costly because of taxes and tolls.

There is a city income tax, and a property tax; that should be enough. But there is also a “mansion tax” imposed on buyers of properties valued in excess of $1........
