Bailee Hilton had gone to Qube nightclub, armed with a flick knife in his pocket, when he encountered George Eyles - a serving soldier - and his friend.

Norwich Crown Court heard Hilton, now 22, became embroiled in an argument with Mr Eyles after a drink got knocked over.

Samantha Lowther, prosecuting, said Hilton headbutted Mr Eyles before punching him twice in the face as the victim was escorted outside by bouncers.

Miss Lowther said Hilton, who was "making threats", followed Mr Eyles - who had a bloodied nose - outside the Prince of Wales Road venue.

She said he came out "holding a knife" and went for Mr Eyles who, "in fight or flight mode", decided to protect himself and his friend and went towards Hilton, taking him to the floor.
