Care home resident choked to death on huge strawberry, court told
Robert Pipe, 83, collapsed while eating fruit at Homestead House on St Faith's Road in Old Catton on March 1 this year.
An inquest at Norfolk Coroner’s Court heard that paramedics initially believed he had suffered a catastrophic cardiac arrest.
However, a post-mortem conducted by consultant pathologist Dr Ben Marriott at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital later revealed a piece of strawberry lodged in his throat, causing him to suffocate.
