Plans to revamp 23 West Parade near Earlham Road and demolish an extension to the building were lodged in January.

There are also plans to install solar panels on the roof of the property.

The site was used as a hostel for homeless or inadequately housed young women.

In October last year it was sold but it has remained empty since.

The plans explain: "The proposed change of use and refurbishment of 23 West Parade creates an opportunity to carry out substantial improvements to both the quality of living accommodation and energy performance of the building.

"The renewable installations will be designed sensitively with minimal visual impact, ensuring the character and heritage value of the conservation are are preserved while enabling a more sustainable future."

According to the proposals, the building is believed to date back to the 19th century.

During the 20th century, there were additions made to the back of the property.
