Closures on A47 as £100m project reaches final stages

Since 2023, National Highways has been dualling the major road between Blofield and North Burlingham.

Last week, traffic was moved on to the new 2.6-mile stretch of carriageway and the new B1140 westbound exit and entry slip roads are also now in use.

A National Highways spokeswoman said they are "on track to open all lanes and move to a 70mph speed limit this summer".

Between now and then, the final stages will be completed.

They will involve creating two new junctions, converting the old A47 for local use and installing new cycle paths.

The next closures will be between the Cucumber Lane roundabout at Brundall and the Acle roundabout, between 8pm and 6am on March 30 and 31.

During this time, more permanent signs will be installed.

It will also be closed on April 13 and 14, to allow roadworks to move from the eastbound to the westbound carriageway between the B1140 Acle Road and The Windle.

There are to be more overnight closures in the week beginning April 27 for work on the central reservation.
