James Magee, the owner of Connaught Kitchen, says customers are avoiding the site due to Anglian Water shutting roads nearby.

He says Connaught Road and Maud Street surrounding the NR2 site are crammed five days a week with noisy machinery and "tonnes" of workmen and their vans.

Mr Magee is furious that the work has been scheduled during the cafe's busiest months - June and July.

He said: “It’s so frustrating.

“The roads are permit-free, and we rely on people being able to park nearby to come to the cafe.
