7 major events and things to do in Norfolk this April

Here are some of the biggest events to look forward to.

1. Wander through tulip fields

Where: Near King's Lynn, full address released to ticket holders

Price: Adult tickets (17+) are £10.00 and children's tickets (5-16) are £5

Tulips for Tapping returns on April 16 in support of Tapping House hospice care for the sixth year.

The event welcomes the public to wander through the fields near King’s Lynn, where more than nine million tulip bulbs are planted.

Tickets must be booked in advance and are on sale now.

Houghton Hall is also hosting a tulip festival this year, with 25,000 bulbs blooming in its five-acre walled garden.

The garden is expected to open on Saturday, April 11, with displays continuing through early May.

Holkham is hosting a three-day Spring Market (Image: Holkham)

Price: Free entry, £8 for parking all day

The Spring Market at Holkham is a free event that takes place in the Lady Elizabeth Wing, showcasing produce, gifts and crafts from more than 50 local artisan makers.

There will be a range of food and drink to feast on, including homemade jams and chutneys, fresh bread, cakes and a selection of beers, ciders and spirits.

The Lady Elizabeth Wing bar, which is cashless, will be open and there will be a range of street food for sale in the courtyard.

Where: St Mary's Works, Norwich, NR3 3AF

Price: Tickets start at £18.50

Beer Con is a new kind of event that focuses on the brewing scene as a whole and offers a look into the world behind the beer.

The former factory will be filled with 150 draught lines, serving up craft beer, lagers, ciders, fizz and wines from all over the UK and Europe.

Food from Brick Pizza and XO Kitchen will keep people fed throughout the weekend. 

4. Norfolk Marathon and Half-Marathon

Where: Starting and finishing in Cromer

Price: Free to spectate

The 2026 Norfolk Marathon (organized by EPIC Norfolk) starts on Cliff Avenue in Cromer, opposite the entrance to North Lodge Park on Overstrand Road.

The finish line is on Tucker Street in the centre of the town for those hoping to get a good look at those completing the gruelling challenge.

The race will start at 9.30am with approximately 1,100 runners taking part this year.

5. Norfolk Artisan Fair in Spring

Where: Fakenham Racecourse, Norfolk, NR21 7NY

When: April 18 and 19

Price: Tickets cost £5 in advance or are £6 on the gate, under 16s free

The Norfolk Artisan Fair in Spring is back at Fakenham Racecourse for two days of shopping.

More than 100 stalls will take over the site between 9.30am to 4pm to showcase the best that Norfolk has to offer.

The event draws thousands of people to the town and is organised by Mark and Meryl Raines of MJR Events.

The Norfolk Artisan Fair first launched in 2021 and runs twice a year, with a Christmas market sister event that is just as popular.

6. Sheringham Viking Festival

This festival runs annually and brings together all sorts of Viking-era activities, from battles to boat-burning ceremonies.

The ancient Viking culture is brought to the modern day and takes place at two locations, on Sheringham's seafront for the boat burning and on Beeston Common, just east of the town near Beeston Bump, where the Viking village and reenactments take place.

The festival is attended by thousands of people every year, with many flocking to see the boat burning at 6.30pm.

7. Norfolk Antiques Fair

Where: Norfolk Showground, Dereham Road, New Costessey, NR5 0TT

Price: Tickets start at £5

The International Antiques & Collectors Fairs (IACF) will be setting up at the Norfolk Showground for the Easter weekend.

The organisers are also behind the Newark International Antiques & Collectors Fair, which is the largest in Europe, and the Ardingly International Antiques & Collectors Fair - the biggest fair in the south of England.
