Edward Williams, affectionately known as Ted, was born in Norwich in 1938 and grew up with his mum while his dad was in the far east during the Second World War.

Mr Williams attended Bracondale School and worked briefly alongside his father at Norwich Union.

But he then built his career in television production after joining Anglia Television - now known as ITV Anglia - during the late 1950s before retiring early at the age of 55.
