Peter Sears, and his wife Barbara, who run PW Sears in Unthank Road, will be retiring at the end of the week after 53 years.

Alan Crouch, 69, who has also been assisting at the store, will also be retiring, having joined the business in 2007.

Their newsagents is being taken over by Rajasingam Kajanthan, who also owns a convenience store on Woodcock Road near Mile Cross.

Mr Sears took over the business from Hilder May Smith in 1973 when the premises was........
