Modi’s ‘guarantee’, Gupta’s ‘priorities’: A year on, Delhi women wait for their Rs 2,500
It has been a year since Rekha Gupta took oath as chief minister, but the women of Delhi have not received the Rs 2,500 they were promised every month.
A centrepiece of the BJP’s Delhi campaign was the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, a promise to deposit Rs 2,500 per month into the accounts of women aged 21-60 from low-income households. Calling it ‘Modi’s guarantee’, the prime minister said that money would soon start arriving in their accounts after the first cabinet meeting.
