Equestrian Federation of India under scrutiny for sending rape-accused member for overseas assignment
New Delhi: The Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) is under scrutiny for sending a rape-accused member for an overseas assignment. The EFI named Col (Retd) Tarsem Singh Warraich, who was accused of sexual harassment and rape charges, as coach-cum-manger of the Indian team for the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) World Cup Qualifiers in Jordan from January 29 to 31.
The naming of the member has brought the federation under the scanner and even the Sports Ministry has issued a show-cause notice to the EFI over prolonged governance and compliance failures. This decision has sparked an immediate controversy and also raised questions on EFI’s decision of sending the person for the assignment.
