How to use eye drops safely? Experts talk about basic tips to take care of

New Delhi: Using eye drops on their own without a doctor’s consultation is the most common mistake. This can lead to a lot of eye issues. For instance, using steroids without proper consultation can cause cataracts or glaucoma. Even using antibiotics in incorrect doses can lead to increased drug resistance of microbes. Other common mistakes people make include the use of dirty hands when applying these drops, touching the dropper to the eyes, starting blinking right after application, or not storing according to the eye drop label (mostly dry/cool places). The bottle of eye drops, once opened, should be used within a month.
