NSE changes market opening process today: New order timings explained

NSE has revised its pre-open session from September 7, introducing separate windows for market orders, limit orders and price discovery. The exchange has also changed reference price rules for stock and index futures and introduced a plus or minus 3% price band late in the trading session.

New Delhi: The National Stock Exchange has changed the way its pre-open session works from Monday, September 7, bringing new time limits for market orders and a clearer order-matching process. For traders who place orders before the regular market opens, the clock will now matter a little more.

The overall pre-open session still runs from 9:00 am to 9:15 am. What has changed is what traders can do during those 15 minutes. NSE has split the session into separate windows for order entry, modification, cancellation and matching. It has also revised some rules for stock and index futures later in the trading day.
